Getting started with Clubify

Clubify is not on the Shopify App Store. Email [email protected] or book a call before you promise a program to customers.

The app has six places you will use: Setup, Plans, Members, Customize, and Emails, plus the theme editor. The detailed clicks are in the guide.

1. Create a tier

Open Setup, or go to Plans and choose Create plan.

Setup can start you from sample memberships named Starter, Pro, and Elite. Those are examples of what you sell to customers. They are not Clubify's Free, Pro, and Advanced plans. Change the name and the price before anyone joins. You can also choose Build a custom plan.

On the plan:

  1. Set the Plan name. Customers see it on the membership card and at checkout.
  2. Set the Monthly price. Add an Annual price only if you want a yearly option.
  3. Set Free trial in days. Zero means the first charge happens when they join.
  4. Optionally set a Customer tag and an Order tag. Those labels are for you. Customers do not see them.

Choose Save & activate. A draft plan is not something customers can join. On the plan list, Activate does the same thing later. If activation fails, the status is Needs attention. Open the plan, read the message, and choose Retry activate.

Activating creates the subscription product customers buy. You do not have to build that product yourself. On one plan, setup can instead link an existing product.

2. Set the member discount

The percentage lives on the plan, under Membership perks, in Member discount.

  • Enter the percent, from 0 to 100.
  • Leave it at 0 when the tier should open products and show benefits, but take nothing off the order.
  • There is no discount code to copy or revoke.

Then, in Setup, open Member discount and choose Set up member discount. That step turns the discount on. It does not pick the percentage. That stays on each plan. Setup lists the percentage already saved on each live plan before you confirm.

The discount applies only when the customer is signed in at checkout and the membership is Active or Trial. A guest checkout does not get it.

3. Turn on benefits

On the same plan, Other benefits are:

  • Priority shipping
  • VIP support
  • Free returns / year
  • Early product access

Turn on only what you actually offer. These show on the member's account page and in the checkout banner, and they are recorded on the membership. They do not, by themselves, change a shipping rate, route support, or hide a product. Hiding a product is the next step.

4. Choose which products the tier can open

Still on the plan, under Exclusive Member Content:

  1. Turn it on.
  2. Choose Add restriction rule (or Add first rule).
  3. Choose what to restrict: Product pages, Add to cart, or Collection pages.
  4. Choose Browse products or Browse collections and pick the items.
  5. Optionally write the Access denied message shoppers see.
  6. Save the rule, then save the plan.

The plan must be Active. Rules on a draft plan do not run.

To match more than the products you picked, on a product-page or add-to-cart rule choose a match by product tag, vendor, product type, or collection. Add the Clubify Product Gate block to the product template. Until that block is on the template, the rule is marked Needs product block and matches nothing.

In Setup, Turn on the storefront and enable the Clubify Control app embed, then save the theme. Without that embed, product locking does not run on the shop.

Blog posts and pages can be locked from the same rule list. They are not chosen from the product browser. Use the fields in the rule.

5. Put the membership where customers can see it

  1. In Setup, Add the plans block to a page. The block is Membership Plans. Save the theme.
  2. Open Customize and set the card: colors, layout, heading, and button. The preview is in that screen. The theme block does not restyle itself.
  3. In the customer account editor, add the page Clubify Membership Portal. That is the member page: tier, status, renewal, benefits, and cancel.
  4. Optional: on the thank-you page, add Clubify Member Portal Link. In checkout customization, add the block Clubify Member Banner so members see their perks and other shoppers see an invitation to join.
  5. Open Emails if you want the welcome, renewal, failed renewal, cancellation, and expiry messages. Each one can be turned off. Branding, sender, and templates are on that page.

6. Check it with one customer

Use a customer who can sign in. Do not test the discount as a guest.

  1. Subscribe them to the tier, or Grant membership from Members if you are comping someone.
  2. Open that person under Members. You should see the tier, a history entry, and later the orders placed as a member.
  3. Sign in as them on the storefront. Open a product the tier can open, and one it cannot.
  4. Sign in at checkout and confirm the percentage. Then open Clubify Membership Portal in the customer account.

If a step does not match, use troubleshooting before you reinstall. Reinstalling does not turn on a theme block that was never saved.

When you are stuck, email [email protected] with the shop domain and a screenshot of the plan or the storefront page.
