Troubleshooting

Solutions to common issues you might encounter with Workify.

Installation Issues

Jobs Page Not Appearing

What this means: The careers page shows an error, is blank, or displays a 404 page.

How to fix it:

  1. Enable the app embed in your theme:

    • Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize
    • Click on Theme settings (gear icon) or find App embeds
    • Find Workify in the list
    • Toggle it ON
    • Click Save
  2. Check you have a published job:

    • Go to Jobs in Workify
    • Make sure at least one job has "Published" status
    • If all jobs are drafts, publish one
  3. Clear your browser cache:

    • Press Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
    • Or open the page in an incognito/private window

[!NOTE] If you recently changed your store's theme or domain, the jobs page may take a few minutes to update.

Theme Editor Not Showing Workify

What this means: You cannot find Workify in the theme editor / app embeds.

How to fix it:

  1. Verify installation:

    • Go to Apps in your Shopify admin
    • Check that Workify is listed and installed
    • If not, reinstall it from the App Store
  2. Look in the right place:

    • In Theme Editor, click Theme settings (gear icon)
    • Look for App embeds section (not regular sections)
    • Workify should appear there
  3. Check theme compatibility:

    • Some very old themes don't support app embeds
    • Consider updating to a Shopify 2.0 theme
    • Contact support for help with specific themes

Application Issues

Applications Not Coming Through

What this means: No one seems to be applying to your jobs.

How to fix it:

  1. Check your job is Published (not Draft or Archived)
  2. Test the application form yourself by visiting your jobs page
  3. Make sure the jobs page is accessible in a private browser window
  4. Promote your jobs on social media and in your store navigation

Resume Upload Fails

What this means: Applicants see an error when trying to upload their resume.

How to fix it:

Check file requirements:

  • Maximum file size: 20MB
  • Accepted formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX
  • File name should not have special characters

If the problem persists:

  • Ask the applicant to try a different browser
  • Ask them to rename the file (remove spaces and special characters)
  • Contact support if the issue continues

Emails Not Sending

What this means: Candidates do not receive notification emails when you change their status.

How to fix it:

  1. Check the applicant's email address for typos
  2. Ask candidates to check spam/junk folders
  3. Make sure you enabled the notification toggle when changing status
  4. Verify email settings in Workify are saved correctly

Display Issues

Cannot Create More Than 1 Job

What this means: You get a message saying "plan limit reached" or similar.

How to fix it:

You are on the Free (Basic) plan which allows only 1 published job at a time.

Option 1: Upgrade to Pro ($9.99/month) for unlimited job postings

Option 2: Archive your current job:

  1. Go to Jobs
  2. Find your current published job
  3. Change the status to Archived
  4. Now you can publish a different job

Custom Questions Not Appearing

What this means: You added custom questions but they don't show on the application form.

How to fix it:

  1. Make sure you clicked Save after adding questions
  2. Check question settings are not limited to a specific job only
