Getting started with Matchly

Install Matchly — Quiz & Forms Builder from the Shopify App Store, then put one quiz on the store. The trial is 3 days. After that, Basic is $4 a month or $40 a year. There is no free plan.

1. Install and open the app​

  1. On the listing, choose Install and approve the app for the shop you want.
  2. When Shopify asks you to pick a plan, start the 3-day trial. After the trial, Basic is $4 a month or $40 a year. There is no free plan.
  3. Open Matchly from the Shopify admin. The home page lists your quizzes. Create quiz is the button that starts one.

2. Create the quiz​

  1. Choose Create quiz.
  2. Pick Start from scratch, or choose a template under Or start from a template. The templates are Find Your Skincare Routine, Build Your Supplement Stack, Find Your Style, Find Your Haircare Routine, Find the Best Food for Your Pet, Find Your Perfect Coffee, Find Your Interior Style, Find Your Fitness Setup, and Find Your Perfect Jewelry.
  3. You can also open Templates in the left nav, preview a template, and create a quiz from it.

A template gives you the questions. It does not know your catalog yet. You still map answers to your products. That mapping, plus rules, leads, and testing, is in the guide.

3. Make it visible​

A new quiz stays in Draft. Shoppers cannot open a draft.

  1. In the editor, open Settings.
  2. Set Quiz status to Active. Use Private only if you want a password on the quiz. Archived hides it.
  3. Choose Publish on the editor bar so the storefront gets this version. Rules and question edits do not reach shoppers until you publish.

4. Add it to the theme​

  1. Open the Embed tab and copy the quiz slug. The same value is the Handle under Settings.
  2. In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize on the theme you publish.
  3. Add the app block named Product Quiz. Paste the slug. Set Display mode to Inline, Popup (button trigger), or Full page.
  4. For a button in the corner of the store, open App embeds in the theme editor and turn on Quizify Popup. Paste the same slug, set the button text, and choose a corner. Save the theme.

The Embed tab also offers a standalone page and a page that keeps your store header and footer. Put that link in a menu or a button. Do not paste code into the theme.

5. Finish the quiz before you send traffic​

Work through the guide in this order:

  1. Build the product quiz and map answers.
  2. Add recommendation rules only where a combination of answers should override the score.
  3. Capture leads if you want an email, name, or phone number.
  4. Test the answers, then take the quiz on the published theme yourself.

If the block is missing on the storefront, use troubleshooting before you reinstall. Reinstalling does not turn a block on.
