General Questions
What does Floaty do?
Floaty adds floating action buttons to your Shopify store. These buttons appear on your store pages and can link to products, collections, or custom URLs.
Customers can click them to:
- Contact you by phone, email, or WhatsApp
- Visit your social media pages
- Go to specific products or collections
- Access important pages quickly
You control what the buttons do and how they look.
Does Floaty work with all Shopify themes?
Floaty works with Online Store 2.0 themes that support app embeds.
If your theme was published before 2021, it may not support app embeds. In this case, you may need to update your theme or contact support.
Is coding required?
No. Floaty is fully visual. You set up everything by clicking, selecting options, and filling in fields.
You do not need to write any code.
Setup and Usage
How do I enable or disable Floaty on my store?
To enable Floaty:
- Open the Floaty app in your Shopify admin
- Click Open theme editor
- The app embed will toggle automatically
- Click Save in the theme editor
To disable Floaty:
- Go to your theme customizer
- Look for "App embeds" in the sidebar
- Find "Floaty Buttons"
- Turn the toggle OFF
- Save
How do I turn a specific button group on or off?
Each button group can be activated or deactivated from the main Floaty app page.
Active groups show their buttons on your store. Inactive groups are hidden.
Can I customize the buttons?
Yes. You can customize:
Button group settings:
- Position - Bottom-right, bottom-left, center-right, or center-left
- Direction - Horizontal or vertical layout
- Icon size - Small, medium, or large
- Icon style - Square or circle
- Group icon - The button that expands the group
- Group colors - Background and icon colors
Individual button settings:
- Icon - Choose from the library or add custom markup
- Name - Button label
- Colors - Background and icon colors
- Action type - Link, phone, email, product, or collection
- Action value - Where the button goes or what it does
Can I reorder buttons?
Yes. Drag and drop buttons within a group to change their order.
Can I have multiple button groups?
Yes. You can create multiple button groups. Each group has its own set of buttons, position, and settings.
Be careful not to add too many. Too many floating buttons can distract customers.
What templates are available?
Floaty includes these pre-made templates:

Performance and Security
Does Floaty affect store speed?
Floaty is designed to be lightweight. It loads only the buttons you configure.
Most stores will not notice any speed difference.
Is Floaty safe to use?
Yes. Floaty:
- Does not collect customer personal data
- Does not modify your products or orders
- Only reads basic store and product information to enable product/collection links
- Follows Shopify's security requirements
Troubleshooting
What if my buttons don't appear?
Check these items:
- Is the app embed enabled in your theme?
- Is your button group set to Active?
- Have you cleared your browser cache?
- Does your theme support Online Store 2.0?

What if a button link doesn't work?
Check the action value you entered:
- Links: Must include
https://orhttp:// - Phone: Use international format with country code (e.g.,
+1234567890) - Email: Must be a valid email address
- Product/Collection: Make sure you selected a product or collection
